FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

Answer

No, I don't. At least not at this moment. I used to have one but I sold it as a franchise in 2016. It is our goal to set up 154 English Teacher franchises by 2020 which are single-classroom boutique-style learning centres with 1 NET, the franchisee him or herself.

Answer

Because I left Whatsapp. I kicked out the app. I feel if I do the opposite of what 99% of the people do, my life works better. In my life I am committed to keep texting to a minimum. I feel that texting does not work. It robs both parties of their time and establishes a lot of miscommunications. Look at the emoji icons, do you really know what they actually mean? Talking works! Preferably face-to-face.

Answer

I don't have any English teaching certification other than a TEFL – which anyone can obtain by the way easily – and I am proud of that. I teach what I preach. I walk the talk. I came to Hong Kong with a poor English level in 2004. My current English level is a testament to the idea that you can master anything. And if I can do it, than any Hong Kong person can do it too.

Answer

I used to lie about that all the time but not anymore. So the answer is: No, I am not a native English speaker but I speak English natively i.e. like a native. You might think that this is stupid to mention on your website but I reason differently. I feel by being authentic I live a much happier life. I also am a testament that anyone can become a native English speaker, including you in case you're not a native English speaker. And lastly, having gone through all the difficulties of learning English as a foreigner, I know what my customers are going through, something a native English teacher does not always have.

Answer

My purpose in life is to transform education in Hong Kong such that it works! Now I feel that it doesn't work. Do you tolerate child suicides? Not me. That's what I'm living for. We are in the business of developing happy kids. We believe that increasing happiness in children leads to improved performance. And improved performance leads to great results. And great results lead to increased happiness. So our starting point and main focus is PLAY. If you fully agree with our vision, we'd love to hear from you.

Answer

They can be if you want that. I feel strongly that I am extremely good in motivating and inspiring people and therefore my personal 1-to-1 classes are focused on both: teaching you English whilst our conversations are focused on motivation and me coaching you. So why not have both, someone who is your English teacher and your life coach?

Answer

Firstly, I will always want you to take my questionnaire for you to discover if learning English is what you really want in life at this moment. If it isn't, I know that you're not looking for English but I can still coach you.
Secondly, my experience of teaching Chinese people in Hong Kong has shaped me to become extremely effective in teaching English to Chinese people. And along the way of my 13 years in Hong Kong, I have learnt how to speak Cantonese. I know many words which are related to my profession, teaching English.
Lastly, every new student gets a 50% discount with me on their first class so that I get to know their level and they get to experience my teaching skills and talents first-hand before they commit.
